This book is about Marathi poems known as Haiku. The haiku is a Japanese poetic form that consists of three lines, with five syllables in the first line, seven in the second and five in the third. The haiku developed from the opening three lines of a longer poem known as a tanka. The haiku became a separate form of poetry in the 17th century. In 1980 poets started studying haiku. Poetess ‘Meghana Sane’ did her M. Phil. on this subject of a poetry form haiku. For this study, she took guidance of the well-known poetess Shirish Pai. हे पुस्तक हायकू या कवितांबाबत आहे. हायकू हा जपानी काव्य प्रकार आहे ज्यामध्ये तीन ओळींचा समावेश आहे, पहिल्या ओळीत पाच अक्षरे, दुसऱ्या ओळीत सात आणि तिसऱ्या ओळीत पाच. टांका म्हणून ओळखल्या जाणार्‍या दीर्घ कवितेच्या सुरुवातीच्या तीन ओळी, होक्कूपासून हायकू विकसित झाला. १७ व्या शतकात हायकू हा कवितेचा एक वेगळा प्रकार बनला. 1980 मध्ये कवींनी हायकूचा अभ्यास सुरू केला. कवयित्री ‘मेघना साने’ यांनी एम.फिल. या कविता प्रकार हायकू वर. या अभ्यासासाठी तिने सुप्रसिद्ध कवी शिरीष पै यांचे मार्गदर्शन घेतले. या पुस्तकात तिने अंदाजे ३०० हायकू तयार केले. या पुस्तकाच्या साहाय्याने अभ्यास करून स्वत:ची हायकू तयार करण्याचा प्रयत्न करता येईल.
